I have walked about 15 km on the Waterdown trail a few weeks ago. All in all I have about 67 km down. Just 483 km to go. XD

Another 24 km on the Bruce Trail. This time it was over two days. The first day I did ten km on the escarpment rail trail at roughly three km an hour. That was on May 13th/12.
On May 14/12 I did 12 km on the Chedoke Radial Trail leading into the main section of BRUCE TRAIL at 5 km an hour. Both days I started roughly at 1pm and returned home by 5:30pm.

Yesterday I went up to McAfee's Knob. I hike it more than a few times a year because I live very close to the AT there.
This was basically a recon of sorts. I wanted to hike out to Campbell Shelter to get an idea of the layout and the tent camping site near there. I'm planning on camping there soon to try out my hammock. The whole hike was a shade over eight miles.
I started about 0830 and took it slow, following the fire road up, crossing the AT, and then making my way a…

This morning would have been perfect for hiking. It was cold, but not freezing, and cloudy. I spent the first half of the week looking forward to this weekend and then picked up a cold on Thursday. Basically, the weekend has consisted of medications and being grumpy.
I've been inventorying my gear and giving it a once over to see what has to be replaced, what I want to get rid of, what I need, and figuring out a better way to pack it all. The hammock is hanging up in the basement, but…

I spent a few hours yesterday out at Carvin's Cove hiking the edge of the lake. Nothing special distance wise, about two miles. This was, however, the first time I've had a full ruck on in years and that was the point of the thing.
I'm planing on camping on the AT some this summer, hiking out and back with my camping kit. To get ready for that, I wanted to start doing short hikes with my ruck loaded with what I would be carrying minus food. The whole thing weighs about 35lbs…

The Sunday after my last ascent of Mount Roland, I still had the bug but wanted a flatter challenge this time and Lees Paddocks fitted the bill.
The lees paddocks track follows the meandering Mersey River and leads to lees paddocks which are a series of open grass plains that were once used to graze cattle but I believe they are now disused. The paddocks have two huts that are habitable and quite…

But what to start with?
Probably the basics would be best. Who, what, when, where, and why.
The who is easy. Or at least as easy as I am choosing to make it at the moment. The who is me. I'm just some guy. I've been around the block a few times and attended a number of semesters at the School of Hard Knocks. I wish I could say that I had graduated, but apparently I haven't. Still, I seem to be passing the tests when they pop up and that must count for…
