Louisville Hiking and Backpacking Meetup

It was a bracingly cold morning on Friday Jan. 1st as we hit the trail right at 9:30 AM and made our way down the Fire Tower trail to start our day. After a frosty group photo on top of the Fire Tower, we made our way down the #2 trail to Clifty Creek.

Brr (yours truly in red on lef… Continue

Vista Problems

I have problems accessing this site using my home pc running Vista. I have to log on from work to check things out. I feel there are setting/configuration problems on Vista that prevent me from accessing HikersJournal.

Does anyone have any thoughts on how to remedy this problem?

Thanks,

Rory

Spammers Suck

Really, they do.

Don't ever buy or even click links of the lame people taking advantage of the traffic to this site trying to promote their stupid web businesses. It is a constant struggle for a site host to combat these invasive a**holes. Please do not encourage their behaviour.

This site is for HIKERS not web marketers. Let's try to keep it that way.

Happy Holidays, and get out on a dang trail. :)

Campervan Hire Australia

All major campervan hire suppliers in Australia have depots in Sydney, typically conveniently located close to the Sydney airfield. Airport pick-up is generally unavailable for campervan hires in Australia but the various depots are usually only a short taxi ride away.Further north there are far more pretty coastlines as you drive thru Bicheno and north to St Helens ; gateway to the Bay of Fires. The access roads to the chain of beaches that make up the Bay of Fires are typically accessible by 2… Continue

The perfect cup of coffee...

The best cup of coffee I have ever had: (Starbucks has nothing on this)
We woke up before the sun and packed up camp. Wading through wet and frosty grass and dodging patches of snow, it took us about 30 minutes to negotiate our way by headlamp to gain the CDT again. Once on the trail we headed East for another hour and a half. The sky was overcast, and there was a definite chill in the air. We continued on the trail and went almost to the top but just around the summit of a 12,252’ peak with no… Continue

Moreton Island Expedition - October 2009

Our plan is to walk from the bottom to the top of Moreton Island, along the surf side, and then move along the northern beach, and catch the barge back. The walk was inspired by the three sailors in 1824, that shipwrecked on the island, and with the help of the local natives, made it back to the mainland. Their names were Thomas Pamphlet, Richard Parsons, and John Finnegan. You can find Pamphlet's narrative at the below website. SEQ HistoryContinue
