Hiker's Journal

A Social Network for Outdoor Enthusiasts

Hi Outdoor Enthusiasts!

Thanks for being some of the first people to be a part of the Hiker's Journal. Ben and I decided to start this website two weeks ago and it took on a life of it's own. I hope to work on it with all my spare time and would love to hear your ideas on how to make it better. Some features we are already working on are classified sections for buying, selling and trading, links to useful online resources, a section to create and download topographic maps, and a section for gear reviews.

Please let me know what you think of this site and help me come up with ideas to make this a valuable resource where people would need to spend time before their next outdoor adventure.

Thanks!

Hi Zann,

First off, thanks for joining. I had started this site a little less than two months ago as a place for my friends to share stories and pictures of their outdoor adventures. I started the site on ning, without checking the web for existing sites with the same name or looking to see if anything else like this exists. However shortly after I started designing the site, I realized its full potential and decided to buy the actual domain name. To my dismay someone already owned hikersjournal.com and didn't want to redesign everything that I spent so much time working on. Luckily the .org was available and the .com was inactive (under construction), so I jumped on it. I haven't looked at your .info site yet but will check it out now. I'm sorry to have squatted on your name and would be happy to discuss a solution that might ease both of our minds (I'm not thrilled that the .com is taken). Please, don't be a stranger.

Happy Hiking,
Rory

I have been trying to spread the word about the site. It really is a great little social network that seems to be getting bigger by the day.
