Hiker's Journal

A Social Network for Outdoor Enthusiasts

I am looking to see if there are other online retailers that people use other than the big guys such as REI and Campmor and such. Any of your local outfitters have websites?

I like to support the smaller guys if I can, but there is not alot of true outdoor shops in Tampa that target the hiking and backpacking crowd.

Check out Egear / Essential Gear Head Lamps (Sue Martian) Lafuma Outdoor gear of all types. (Dan Ubank) He is on this site.

Steepandcheap.com is my favorite and I visit daily thanks to great deals throughout the day. They are a subsidiary if Backcountry.com, which is a great site as well.

My local outfitter is Quest Outdoors, but they only have a website without any ecommerce.

steepandcheap rocks. I live right next to an REI, so I go there a bunch. Otherwise, I like sierratradingpost.com.

Check out backpackinglight.com. I've not found anyone who analyzes equipment as well these guys. The editor has a PHD in engineering.

I'll continue the praise for steepandcheap.com. Excellent customer service too. I've got the pop-up tool in my Mozilla so I never miss a deal.

you can check out http://store.sundogoutfitter.com/
I am a rep and work with many stores which carry my products and have an online store as well. These guys seem to do a good job at it.
I work for Lafuma and Millet if you ever need any info about their products.
Thanks
